A little inspiration......

A little inspiration for your day.......

Sunday at church we had a guest speaker that works for the International Justice Mission. He helps fight for justice for people all over the world. People that are in horrible situations by the hand of another person. It was a powerful message but what got to me the most was this question - How are those people that are in terrible situations supposed to know that God is good? What is God's plan for them to know He is good? We are His plan. When they see God's body in action coming in to help them they know God is good. For some reason this really struck me. He used the verse "You are the light of the world." Matthew 5:14. I picked up my Bible this morning to try and kick start my terrible lack of reading habit and happened upon that verse again. It's really very simple and all over the Bible. God wants us to show how good He is to the world. He can do it Himself and I know He does all of the time but for some reason He likes to use us little unqualified, lazy people. Strange, huh?

It seems simple but yet so overwhelming. When I was reading this part in Matthew this morning their was a mini devotional at the bottom of the page by Luci Swindoll. She put it so simply..

"Encourage instead of criticize.
Love instead of hate.
Hope instead of doubt.
Give instead of take.
Trust instead of worry."

I think I can do those things. I know I can if I think about it. God can use my simple choices to impact others. To show them God is indeed good.

I know this is a little different blog post then usual for me but by sharing it with someone it helps me as well. I need to a little more of this and a little less of all that other stuff I do....

Farm Chick Finds

On Saturday I braved the pouring rain armed with only a new umbrella, my Ipod and a People magazine I stood in line outside for forty five minutes to get into Farm Chicks. It was insane how many people were there. I couldn't find anyone to go with me but it ended up working out great. I left the kids with Greg and found some fun new things!

I collect these flowery trays and they all live in my kitchen.

I found this red metal cart that works great as an end table in the living room. The quilt over the chair was also a Farm Chick find. Perfect colors for me and I love all of the fabric pieces!
For many years I had my eye on a similar stool at Target. I found this old one in great condition. The kids went crazy over it when I brought it home. Something new to climb! Addison loves to climb onto the seat but she can't get down safely yet.
I have always loved these metal outdoor chairs. I spotted this rocking one right away but let it sit as I looked around and compared prices. This ended up being the best deal I found. It will be great on our new yet to be finished deck!
I found this old fencing for a great price and I thought it would make a fun solution to keeping Hudson out of this flower bed. He loves to sit on my peonies. So far so good.

Have a great day...I hope it is sunny where you are! We are having so much rain!

Glimpses of the garden

Yeah, I know....these aren't from my garden but they are my little flowers that are growing like weeds! I had to put one new picture of the kiddos. This was taken at my parent's house the other night. Addison is giving us her mega watt grin.

I've really loved having my own yard to garden in. I'm a little addicted to buying and planting flowers. I have a vision of what I would some day like it to be but it is going to take a long time and a lot of money! I need to be patient. Enjoy! It isn't a sunny day here but at least I have pretty flowers to look at!
