Too cute.

"I wish God made me sneaky." said Eli.
"Why?" I asked.
"So I could sneak mushrooms (marshmallows)."
"I wish God made mushrooms healthy." Eli said.
"Me too."

A Memorial Day weekend update...

I'm going to keep this short and sweet because I'm not feeling especially wordy at the moment. I promised some pictures of the work I did this weekend to Mom.

I didn't do too much in the front this weekend except plant a couple flowers I had sitting around for awhile. I just love that everything is coming to life! I planted a bunch of perennials last year and it was so satisfying to see them pop their heads out of the dirt...and now look, they are lush and beautiful!

Here is my cute little man posing in front of his playhouse. We just recently leveled it out on pavers. Our little tiny maple looks so cute right next to the tiny playhouse. I hung the hanging basket today but I need to raise it up some.
I expanded these flower beds this weekend. This is the side of our garage. It was so empty and boring so we decided to hang some old windows up. Do you like my shabby chic garage door? Yes, someone that lived here before us decided to put a new roof and new siding on this garage but neglected to replace this door. It actually used to look a little better. A few weeks ago the bottom pieces fell off. To the left of the door is our old headboard that my dear Father made for us when we were just married. We recently bought a real bed but I decided to keep this around for a trellis in the garden. I need to plant some more foxglove in front of the trellis though.
Another shot of the flower bed.
Just a cute shot of the kiddos taken the other day. There you go Grandma!

A little catch up and a belated Happy Mother's Day.

This is my Mom. I'm sure she'll be delighted that I posted this picture of her. The problem is that she hates getting her picture taken so I have little to choose from. Anyway, a little tribute a few days late to my Mom in honor of Mother's Day.

My Mom is the type of Mom that sacrifices for her family. Whether it is giving us the better piece of food and taking the burnt piece, the heel or just the plain ugly piece, she does it. She comes to visit and makes it her personal mission not to leave until every last pair of socks and undies is clean and folded and put away. She gives and gives and gives. She almost always comes to visit with a gift. She brings food, books, jammies, toys for the kids, clothes she got for a steal. She is always thinking of her kids and grandkids. I want to be like her when I grow up. She is also a master cook, organizer, finder of lost things, comfort when I'm sick and a sometimes pesky reminder to use my leftovers. She also says it like it is which can be refreshing and at times irritating (sometimes we all hate the truth but need to hear it.) My sister and I both call her multiple times a day and never want her to leave when the time comes. How I hope my daughter is like that with me!

She is humble, she will downplay how great she is but don't let her fool you. She is the best and I am forever grateful that God made her my Mom.

This is my mother-in-law Mary. Happy Mother's Day! She's great too!

So we have had Hudson a week now. Eli really loves his new doggy. It took him awhile to get affectionate with him but now he loves to cuddle. Poor Hudson needs all he can get.
He is so depressed. He won't eat much of anything. Not even yummy chicken treats. I'm told this is normal but I still feel so bad!

Addison still loves the dog kennel. Hudson is so sweet he doesn't even kick her out.
We had a great Mother's Day weekend. Saturday night we went over to my brother-in-law and sister-in-law's house for a Mom's dinner. They have a beautiful yard and lit a fire in their fire pit. We even roasted some marshmellows before it started to rain on us!

Sunday we had a wonderful day with my parents. I went with my Mom and bought my first tree. A cute little Japanese Maple for the back yard. Our dang dog is already trying to destroy it!
We had great barbecue and of course the time was too short - just a quick day trip for them.

Happy Anniversary to my sissy today! I can't believe it has been eight years already! Congrats to you two!

He's finally here!

Here he is, Hudson Henson. He is a sweetie although it may be the shock of his long plane trip and the crazy kids or the "cousin" doggy staying with us....

Addison has taken a real liking to him. This was their first meeting. She kept going in for hugs. It was so cute. She has also tried to kiss him and likes to try and give him his food and toys.

And I guess we should have gotten our kids a doggy crate a long time ago because it is suddenly the most popular toy in the house!

We are happy to have a new doggy member of the family. So far so good......
