This past weekend I was so happy to be included in a little getaway my sister planned for a group of girlfriends.
I really didn't know anyone that was going as they all live five hours away from me.
Friday morning my little family packed up a lot of stuff and hit the road.
We were shocked and so saddened to hear about Japan that morning.
We were headed to the Washington Coast - headed straight for an area with a tsunami warning.
Fortunately for the area we were headed to it is about sixty five feet above sea level.
So with a heavy heart for the people so far away from us we set out on our weekend adventure.
This was my second visit to this magical sea side community. If you want to sigh and dream a lot....look up Seabrook, Wa. Prepare to plan your next getaway here!
I first visited Seabrook last year...the same exact weekend in March as this visit. Last year was my once in a lifetime weekend to meet dear blogging friends. It was truly magical. Such a special memory.
We stayed in this house at the end of the road last year...
Some shots of the ladies I got to spend my weekend with. They were all so welcoming and kind.
Sis, you have great friends!
Saturday morning we donned our rain gear and headed to the beach via "the hobbit trail". It was so beautiful and otherworldly. Throughout the top of the trail we kept seeing little tiny forts or scenes that were set up. By adults? By children? I'm not sure. Little homes for gnomes and fairies I suppose. There were even a number of carved wooden mushrooms. I'm just picturing someone out in the middle of the woods taking the time to carve this mushroom! Crazy, eh?
My sis and I on the beach Saturday morning. It was cold and drizzly!
Saturday afternoon we happened to look up from our conversation at the dining room table long enough to realize it was sunny! The weather at the coast seems to change every five minutes so we knew enough to drop everything and run outside!
Seabrook has this amazing collection of retro bicycles available to ride. I think my happiest moments all weekend were riding these bikes around the streets of this idyllic neighborhood. There is absolutely nothing that makes you feel like a kid again like riding an old school bike. The best anecdote for feeling old. Ever.
On the beach I had a great time harassing a little seagull and his fresh crab. Oh, but did I make him nervous. Every time I'd get close he'd scurry away and every time I'd inch back he'd move forward to claim his fresh, yummy prize. If I had known what was coming next, I would have left the poor guy alone to enjoy his lunch.

As soon as we started walking away we notice a bald eagle flying through the sky. Those birds are so majestic - they are always a treat to see. Well, wouldn't you know it. He'd been watching us. He swooped in and snatched that crab from the seagull so fast! The poor seagull just sat there so sad. Totally reminded me of the seagulls from the movie Finding Nemo..."mine, mine, mine...".
Saturday night we played the funniest game. Totally recommend it for your next party....
So you start with a regular paper grocery bag. The one we played with was a TJ bag with handles. On the first round everyone must pick up the bag handle with there mouth. Easy? Not so. You also must only stand on one foot to bend over and pick it up. No using your hands,no getting on your knees. This was hard folks, but so, so funny! Everyone got three tries each round. The moment your foot went down one of your tries was over. Every round the bag was cut down by an inch! Really fun party game. And it went far...probably got to within two inches of the floor!
Here is a list that sums up my little two days with the girls at the coast.
