Eli's quilt.....

I finished up the quilt for Eli late last night...my fingers are sore. I think I need to take a break from sewing for awhile!

I finished my quilt for Addison yesterday so she was able to sleep under it last night. I love how it turned out and I especially love the soft fabric I used as the backing. It makes it extra cozy for her! This was so fun and now I am itching to make one for Eli!

I think I'm addicted....

to sewing that is.

I finished some kiddo washcloths the other day. These were fun to make and easy for me being a newbie and all.

I made another trip to the quilt shop today and got a beginner quilt kit for a tiny little quilt. I am going to give it to Addison. I had been thinking lately that she needed a different blankie to sleep under in her crib. I think this will do nicely. The picture is just the quilt top. I bought some soft and cozy white fabric for the backing and the binding is a cute green polka dot print. I'm still trying to decipher the binding directions. We will see how it all goes together!

Success!

Today I actually had success (and fun) sewing! For those of you who know me, I am a wannabe sewer. I dream of the skill to whip up beautiful creations for my home and family. My good friend Laura came over today to show me the ropes of a (I'll admit, very simple) project. I was able to whip out six cute little burp cloths for my littlest, Quinn. I liked this project because they didn't have to be perfect - cloth diapers aren't perfect to begin with - and it was all straight line sewing. Next project, baby washcloths!

Fun and easy project idea....

Lately I have been trying to decorate the little corner of our bedroom that will be baby Quinn's nursery area. I removed the wall decor I originally had above his crib and put up some vintage inspired ABC flash cards I had been saving forever. Those hung for about a month and they just bugged me. They were cute but just not in our bedroom. I had seen a great idea for doing homemade silhouettes on this gal's blog awhile back and had been itching to try it out. I also ordered this print from this etsy shop and thought it would be darling hung as a trio. The print is of two brothers and a sister with the kiddos initials below each one.

The silhouettes were very, very easy. The hardest part was getting Addison to sit still long enough to get a good profile picture of her. So anyhow, that is the first step. Get your darling little ones to sit still long enough to get a good, clear profile shot of them.

Then, print the profiles to 8x10 or whatever size you prefer. Cut the pictures out oh so carefully, making sure to get all the little details....and paint with black acrylic paint. I did two coats of paint on mine just to make sure there was good coverage. I mounted them on red and white polka dot paper and framed them. Wa La! Totally not my idea but a darn good one and they are really recognizable as my kids!
I'm not sure what that mark is but it is just on the photo....

Excuse the obnoxious reflection of me in the silhouette...I had the hardest time not getting a reflection!

Notice the glimpse of the lovely beadboard? It is finally finished!
