Some flowers, some ducks, some fries, some fits....

We went to the park.

We saw some pretty flowers & dragonflies.

We sucked caramel dip off of our apples.

(but) We did not eat any fruit.

We fed some ducks some fries.

We got into trouble for feeding ducks fries.

We watched other kids play on the playground.

We did not join the other kids on the playground.

We threw a screaming hissy fit when Mommy decided she was
done watching OTHER kids play on the playground and wanted to go.

We (Mommy) reevaluated taking her kids to the park.

We ALL took naps when we got home.

In honor of Father's Day...a day late.

This was done for a Father's Day event at Eli's preschool this spring. I think it is so cute and he is right on about most of it!

The "E" Revealed

So here is the big "E" that I found at Farm Chicks a couple of weeks ago. It replaced a little tiny "E" that I had hung over a painted blue star. I really did like the star and Eli said he misses it but the big "E" is just so cool! What do you think?

I also think the big "E" is a little more grown up looking for a big five year old!

What am I to do?

It is just me and the little man for the next two days! Daddy will be home in the evenings of course but how will I fill my days without a five year old and two year old running around? (I'm sure I will really have no problem...)

But in case I do...anyone have any fabulous suggestions for me? I practically have no responsibilities for the next two days....just a newborn? No sweat!

(In case you were worried....no, I did not just drop my kids off at a bus stop somewhere. They went home with Grandma for two days and were so excited to leave their dear old Mom they could hardly stand it!)

Cuteness

*Fun project*

So a little while back I was browsing blogs and checking in with this amazingly talented knitter, sewer, crafter...you name it and she had done this darling little project.

I tucked it away in my mind thinking of all the windows in my garage from my parent's house. A little while later I picked up some fabric and that sat for awhile too. I finally had the energy to do this little project this morning and it didn't take as long as I thought it would. Mostly because I decided not to paint the window....I rather like the shabby look it has.

Below is my fabric for this little project. I put the first piece on without ironing it but quickly decided it had to be ironed. Darn!

The finished product! All of the fabric was stapled with a staple gun to the back of the window. It was a little difficult getting the staples into the tiny wooden dividers and up close it is all far from perfect. I do think it is quite cheery though and a good use for old windows!

The Farm Chicks

Oh, what a fun weekend I had! Saturday my Mom and I headed out with Quinn to the Farm Chicks Antique Show. We ended up getting there right at the time they opened and the line to get in snaked all the way to the road! So many people...the gals behind us in line actually drove all the way from California for the show! For as long as the line was it only took us about 25 minutes to get in the door. Not too bad at all!

Once we were inside it was totally overwhelming..so much fun stuff to look at and so many people to get around to look at it! My Mom and I shopped for a couple of hours before Quinn decided he needed a lunch break. While we were having lunch I was able to meet Andi and Jenny - two really cool girls who I have been getting to know in blogland! We ended up doing two tours of all of the booths (just to soak it all up and see as much as we could!).

There were so many cool vintage textiles....tablecloths, pillows, quilts. I had my eye out for a quilt but never scored one. The one I had my eye on got away with someone else...darn!

There was also a bunch of cool storage units like the yellow one above. I can just see them used for fun toy storage or craft storage. Too expensive for me though...so many awesome big pieces but I would have to save all year to buy any!

Here is my friend Laura with my best find all weekend. She came with my Mom and I on Saturday but could only stay for an hour. Since she only saw a fraction of the goods on Saturday I met her again on Sunday to finish looking. Admission was good all weekend so why not? I was also kid free on Sunday...that was sure fun!

Laura bought this wagon to put in her yard with some flowerpots in it...so cute!

Here are a few of the things I found on Saturday. The white high chair was a steal and is really sturdy. I am planning on pulling it up to the table and making it work for Quinn when he is ready. Addison can also sit in it now and it gives her a little boost at the table. I started a globe collection a few years back at a Farm Chicks show (if you can call the three I now have a collection!) so I scooped this one up right away. I also collect the metal trays. I use them in my kitchen..they are so bright and cheerful and so cheap to buy. The red metal toolbox...I am thinking of using it as a jewelry box but it might be used for something else.

This is what I am really excited about! I found this big wooden letter E on Sunday and knew it was perfect. The price was great and it is going to go over Eli's bed. He thought it was pretty cool and really wanted to play with it. The best thing was that as I carried it around the show after I bought it I got a ton of comments on it. I really felt like I got a super duper treasure after that! Such fun!

This mailbox is going to get mounted somewhere in my backyard. I'm going to use it to store my gardening gloves and pruners...everything I use all of the time!

I got myself a Farm Chicks baseball cap but it is rather cute on this little guy, don't you think?

After seeing that Jenny bought these cute little labels I had to pick some up on Sunday too! I'm going to use them on my flour and sugar and rice jars I have in my kitchen.

Here is a little tablecloth I picked up as well. It is in great condition and the colors are still really bright!

And finally, I bought some of the Farm Chicks posters...I love their look and I think I will put them in our basement stairway. It is so dark and dreary I think these might cheer it up!

Farm Chicks was such fun this year! I'm already looking forward to next year...join me if you can!

Momma said there'd be days like this.....

Yesterday we had to run out to take our little runaway (Hudson the dog) for his annual vet appointment. As you can tell from his nickname he has been causing us a little stress lately with his extracurricular activities. So after I paid the vet a painful amount of money I told Eli & Addison that they could have chocolate milkshakes from McDonalds for being good. (Note to new mothers: Bribery REALLY works!) Plus, my ulterior motive was to get myself an XL sweet tea. Have you had their sweet tea? It is my new addiction. Actually it became my addiction right before I found out I had gestational diabetes so I had to go on a sweet tea hiatus. Now I get it as often as I can....

So in an effort to get out of making dinner we stopped off to get pizza. I had to park a ways down from the pizza place in front of this bakery. I noticed a table of women sitting right in front of where I parked as I walked by. We walked back to the car, pizzas in hand and I set Quinn down in front of the car in his carseat. Addison was right on my tail and apparently not paying attention because she slammed into the back of my legs and spilled her ENTIRE chocolate milkshake onto Quinn's lap. It was one of those moments where you just stop and go "I don't really know what to do here...". So I put the pizza in the car (remember there is a dog all alone with pizza in this car) and took my chocolate milkshake covered four week old into the bakery. Those three women at the table? They witnessed it all - front row seats they had. I noticed them laughing as I walked by...I won't hold it against them. It was pretty funny. As soon as I walked into the bakery these wonderful women (I think they were all about my Mom's age and definitely Grandma's themselves) jumped up to offer help. They took charge actually..."we have to get him undressed..here, let's lay him down on our table." So I helped one women strip poor Quinn down to his diaper while another started cleaning out the puddle in my carseat. I had to take the carseat apart to clean it up. The infant insert, the cover, everything had to come off. While I did this one of the women held an almost naked Quinn. I could tell she was in new baby heaven. Sooo thankful to these wonderful women. Greg said if Quinn hadn't been a newborn - if he had been one or two - they wouldn't have helped. Having a fresh one sure helps in these situations!

So we took another trip through the McDonald's drive thru...had to replace poor Addison's milkshake you know and they actually had the nerve to give me an unsweetened tea! I can't drink that stuff! So you know...I really do have my priorities in order. My poor naked baby in the backseat and me getting my drink order right. You gotta do what you gotta do when you are sleep deprived!

So Quinn got a little bath when we got home...actually I had just wiped him down with wipes and put fresh clothes on him but he promptly blew out his diaper so bath time it was!

This is such a fun show...I look forward to it every year and pray we aren't broke when it rolls around! This is it's second year at the Fairgrounds and from what I hear they will have four entry lines this year so it won't be as crazy as last! All the craziness is so worth it though....so much fun stuff to be had or just to drool over and leave behind for others to have!
